Build what comes after silicon
Matterforma is building the first Material Computing control plane. We are a small, multidisciplinary team based in New York, solving problems that sit at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, molecular science, language design, and AI.
Determinism over heuristics. Governance by default. Observability everywhere.
These are not slogans. They are engineering constraints that shape every system we ship. Our platform runs 16 microservices under strict TypeScript with governed execution, audit trails, and consequence-tiered policy at every layer. If you want to work on systems where correctness is non-negotiable, this is the place.
Open Roles
We are assembling a multidisciplinary core team. The following roles represent active areas of hiring. If you do not see an exact match, reach out anyway; we maintain a qualified contributor pipeline across all functions.
Platform Engineer
Language tooling, compilers, and SDKs. You will work on the .matr language specification, the MFCore runtime, and the developer experience layer that connects authoring to execution.
Infrastructure Lead
Runtime design, execution governance, distributed systems. Own the control plane that compiles, validates, and routes Matter programs across digital and Material substrates.
AI / Reasoning Systems Engineer
Agent orchestration, hybrid compute models, and deterministic governance. Work on BERNIE, our five-layer intelligence system with a hard deterministic Governor boundary.
Simulation Engineer
Repeatable modeling and verification pipelines. Build the simulation engines that validate Matter programs before they reach physical execution.
Principal Scientist
Material computing theory, molecular logic validation, and substrate characterization. Bridge the gap between computational design and physical execution.
Product Designer
Design the interfaces for a new computing paradigm. Own the developer console, the Matter Studio editor, and the observable experience layer that makes governed execution legible.
What We Value
Research Partnerships
Matterforma works with university and laboratory partners in Europe and the United States on Material Computing research. Current collaboration tracks include:
- - Molecular logic validation
- - DNA strand displacement systems
- - Simulation-to-lab transfer methodologies
- - Scalable material execution models
Institutions with strong programs in molecular biology, biophysics, computational biology, or synthetic chemistry are encouraged to reach out.
